Can a magician really make a difference in the world? Yes. What about you?

After seventeen years of performing—from birthday parties in Dallas to corporate events in Philadelphia—I’ve entertained just about every kind of audience imaginable. I traveled across state lines for baptisms, bar mitzvahs, trade shows, and more. But of all those experiences, it was the schools that left the deepest mark.
One early assignment took me to a middle school in Queens, where I performed three shows on anti-drugs and anti-bullying. The students were loud, rambunctious, and unforgettable. Looking back, those moments planted the seeds for what would become the Magic in the Library Initiative, the work that now defines my career.
Today, writing from Lubbock, Texas, I can say with confidence: I’ve found my niche in magic—and my calling.
Magic Meets Education
At Magic in the Library, I combine the art of illusion with language arts to help students grasp reading, writing, and research concepts.
Every show entertains while teaching. My goal is simple: to help students (and adults) realize that inside each of us is a reader, writer, and thinker waiting to emerge.
The Magic Formula for Fulfillment - Passion Plus People Equals Magic
Too many people settle for jobs that pay the bills but leave them empty. While financial stability matters, fulfillment matters too. So how do you find it?
Here’s my formula:
Step One: Identify Your Passion.
Find something you love doing. It can be anything. For example, if you enjoy working with audio equipment, explore careers or side projects in that field. Or, if you enjoy hiking, find an opportunity to serve others on the trail.
Step Two: Connect Passion to People.
Fulfillment comes when your passion meets a real need. Each of us is wired to serve others—whether through our career or community.
Sometimes this requires creativity. That’s where the best magic happens.
Examples of Unique Passion to Action
Paul the Stamp Collector
By day, Paul is an accountant. By night, he curates stamp collections. He partners with a local museum to create a display and lecture series, turning his hobby into a side business that also enriches his community.
Sara the Organizer
Sara works in HR but thrives on organization. She launches a home organization firm, using profits from professional clients to offer free home organizational services to single mothers in her neighborhood. Her passion becomes both a livelihood and a lifeline.
These stories show how unusual pairings of passion and need can create fulfillment, profit, and community impact—a true win-win-win.
Note: On Profit and Purpose
Profit isn’t a dirty word. While greed exists, earning compensation for meaningful work is not selfish—it’s sustainable. Volunteering is noble, but being paid allows you to keep serving. For deeper insight, I recommend Thou Shall Prosper by Daniel Lapin.
Passion Plus People Equals Magic
When your passion intersects with meeting the needs of others, you discover real magic. And if you can’t find that intersection—create one.
That’s the lesson I’ve learned through magic, and it’s the lesson I hope to pass on: fulfillment comes when we use what we love to serve those around us. Believe me, I’ve tried and tested this formula, and it works. I’d love to hear your thoughts. Send me a message or an email and we’ll chat.
