Our Mission
Magic in the Library is so much more than a magic show for children. Each production is an adventure through the world of language arts designed to teach practical literacy skills through the ancient performance art of magic tricks.
The performance art of magic provides an unforgettable and emotional artistic experience, and we aim to use this art as a vehicle both on stage and in the classroom to inspire children, to impart knowledge, and to change the way students think about reading.
Objective One
Inspiration through Wonder
To challenge the status quo by rebranding the language arts as a creative adventure in the minds and hearts of students, to help students understand that reading is neither a chore nor drudgery, and to help students understand that, like a magician performing a magic trick, they too can accomplish the impossile through the overcoming of their fears and anxieties in reading and writing.
Objective Three
Practical Language Arts Skills
To illustrate key readership skills such as reading comprehension and writing skills, using the art of magic tricks.
Objective Three
Knowledge, Wisdom, & Understanding
To encourage a desire for the pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding and therefore develop a lifelong attitude of learning. To help students learn to think and grow through such practices of metacognition, research, and critical thinking.
